Sorry for the late reply, coz i am having exam these dayz.

November is alright in NZ, not too cold and not really hot... should be a great time to come...

it wont be a problem if you do not hold a drivig licence. there are many tour company operate in NZ, you can even book everything when you arrived in the airport or at hotel/motel, most hotel and motel offer airport pick-up service. If you joining tour in NZ, most company will do a free pick up and drop off from & to their hotel/motel. when you arrived in NZ, just walk up to the visitor information centre in the airport, and they will get everything done for you.

    Hi, Sampson W000,

Thank you for your sharing. I have sent you email, not sure if you can receive, so i repeat here.

I plan to have my honeymoon in NZ in mid Decemeber for around 10 days. I wish to spend more time in South Island rather than North Island as i have been to the north Island before.
Both my bf and i enjoy DIY rather than following travel agent. However, i know December is a peak season, everything will be very expensive. I'm afraid we have difficulty in booking hotel / B & B and transportation.

    We wish to visit:
    1. Milford Sound, have a cruise and try the Milford track.
    2. Dunedin to visit the Penguin Place
    3. Glowworm Cave (at Te Anau)
    4. Mt. Cook to try Glacier Explorer and hiking there.

As we don't have a driving license, is it easily for us to travel by public transport? I know from the book that there is a travelpass that allows me to use 2-4 different types of transport within a given period of time. Is it helpful and easy to use?

    hi,

hotel shouldnt be a problem, there are lot of hotel/ motel in Christchurch and Dunedin you can just walk in most the time (other than christmas days), you should book them when you arrived in the airport or book online the day before.

i am not really sure about the public transport here, as i drive all the time.. but i am sure it will NOT be as good as you think. make sure you get a hold of a timetable, there maybe only 1 or 2 buses going to each distanation... and also not sure about the travel pass...

sorry, cant give you much information, hope it will help you abit...

In addition, if you are heading to Queenstown, the hotel there are alway busy.. specially in December, it is really hard to find a bed down there.

    Dear Sampson,

Thanks for your information. My big day is 16/12. It is rather close to X'mas and I guess it is not easy to get a room to stay. Rolling Eyes
Transport is a big problem. Confused

Is the weather in December good for travelling. I can postpone the honeymoon travel if Jan or Feb is better.

sorry for late reply... the weather is about the same. (nice and warm) during Dec-Feb... also for hotel, i normally book via www.ratetogo.com you can find almost all the hotel/motel there... in that website, you dont have to pay the full price to hold a booking (unlike other website, most other one reqire to be paid in full @ booking), only a disposit of about 10% (i think) to hold a booking.....

    Thank you!
We may postpone our tour to January, hoping that there will be fewer people. Then, we can travel more freely la.

I am new to this forum. I am getting married in Jan/
Just like all of you, I want to go somewhere where the weather is nice and warm; therefore I picked NZ.
I have been checking both NZ and CX airline for early bird cheap ticket.... right now, their promotions are only valid till dec/06. I am still waiting!
For those who are planning to go in early 07, have you bought the tickets yet??? any good deal out there?

I think we will only have 10-13 days for our honeymoon. Would you still recommend, both South/North Islands... or just one.......?? We want to relax rather than setting a tightly packed schedule... which island would you recommend. I suggest you all to check out www.newzealand.com (it's quite useful)
