hi kerokero (I'm Maphil using my sister's account), but I got more car parking, more choices of fruit juices, free projector, and they said if I use at least the middle menu they could tailor the cake to those "designer" type of cakes as I want it. what I never heard of a success story is free or discounts on reception drinks.

So try harder! I guess man do a better job negotiating. Actually it's my bf doing it Twisted Evil so tell your bf to do it!

hi sasaray...so if you're using the middle priced menu, they agreed to tailor the cake to designer type cakes for free or with a charge?

I just made deposit for my reservation for 2008 Oct., but the sales told me only normal style cake with fruits ja...

ice_peko hi,

The cake was the first thing that I asked for at the beginning of discussion. I told them I just need a plain three tier cake with simple white icing decorated with flowers (typical wedding cakes you see in the overseas wedding magazines). Of course not the designer type that the bakery needs to work on it for four days.

I promised to use the most expensive menu when we discussed. But since they come back in the addendum saying that I could have the cake tailored if I use the middle or higher menu... of course i let it stay that way!

and btw, my bf is a super negotiator. He never drops the topic until he get it!

A point to note also that I'm getting married in June. which is definitely an easy month for hotel.

Cheers,

Hihi

I understand that Pen is going to offer me Deluxe Suite for the hotel room included in the package. Have anyone of you heard of any success story of bargaining a better room Rolling Eyes ?

hey Kerokero, deluxe suite meaning those big suites on the lower floors that they also show to people during last showcase?

One of my sister's friend who used Pen got a room on the higher floors facing the sea instead. however, her friend working at Pen said it's probably becos the rooms are fully booked that's why they sold her into the idea of getting a seaview room. Seaview is good, but they got a much lower ceiling. maybe if you like seaview you could try this?

yes yes maphil...Deluxe Suite are on lower floor. My bf said Deluxe Harbourview Suite would be better. However, I am not sure if we would be able to fight for it, as we are paying the 06 price Rolling Eyes .

hey, it's hard to say! you never know what you could possibly get!

btw, the upper floors seaview room got a lower ceiling and could affect the 空間感. Just a data point!

A few recommendations from my experience. Hope it helps.

Definitely get the deluxe suite in the old wing. The deluxe harborview suite in the new wing may be more expensive, but I don't think it's an upgrade due to the lower ceilings and poor floor plan. The deluxe suite in the old wing has an open dining and living room design. During the ceremonies there must be 50+ people in that space and it wasn't crowded at all. We got the deluxe suite on the south east corner on the 6th floor, which was basically right across from the space museum, with a great harbor view.

Our wedding was in late 2005 and we picked the most expensive package, with pre-wedding reception drinks on a consumption basis, and banquet drink package without wine. Back then the most expensive package included one free night in a suite and $1000 food voucher on anniversary date. Since we are from the US, we do not need those things on our anniversary date. So instead we used that free night during our wedding and got three consecutive nights. For the $1000 food voucher on anniversary date, we got like 8 liters of fruit punch and some snacks during pre-wedding reception. They also waived corkage fee for 6 extra bottles of wine. These were all pre-negotiated and stated in the contract.

We had nine tables and there was plenty of room for a stage and space for march in. There were also plenty of room for wedding games. I thought the staff was very professional and top notch. We had three different wines for the banquet. Not everyone was a wine drinker and we didn't want to waste good wine, so we asked the staff to pour 8 bottles of the cheapest wine in smaller wine glasses in the initial round for everyone (110 people). The staff was very observant on the wine drinkers at their respective tables, and started switching out the small glass with bordeaux glasses for the real wine drinkers, and then poured the properly decanted good wines. In the end the real wine drinkers got lots of great wine, and the non wine drinkers didn't feel left out. We recieved lots of compliments about that arrangement. That would not be possible without the excellent staff.

Even though we signed a contract with Peninsula explicitly stating what was included, Peninsula was very nice and they won't nickle and dime you. For example, they didn't charge us for running a bit overtime in the Rolls Royce. They gave us the projector for free when we had some trouble getting ours working. They let us decorate the stairs leading to the Salisbury Room even though technically we didn't rent that part. They gave us extra champagne (we still have 4 bottles at home and I am pretty sure the package included only 4 bottles, and we drank a lot champagne on the wedding night). We thought we would recieve a bill for all these things when we checked out, but all we recieved was a parting gift from Peninsula wishing us a happy marraige. I think the catering manager / sales person has some discretion in what to charge. If you are nice to them, they will be nice to you.

Can someone tell me what is the current minimum charge, the price for the different menus, and what's included in each of the menu choices? I am just wondering what the prices are now compared to before. Back then the minimum charge was 80k, menu prices started at 7880, and the most expensive package was 10880.
