Anyone planning to go New Zealand for honeymoon?

Of course, the hotel price for early booking should be cheaper than walk in. But not all motels provide early booking service, you can search the yellow pages of NZ for the motel details. I'll not suggest you book early for motel because some locations are hard to find and not convenience as the map says.

Or another option, you can book 1-2 days in advance when you arrived each place in NZ thru telephone or local tourist office. You can also make a minor adjustment on your schedule.

It takes $8300 for cathay direct flight (tax not included)
and no ticket for NZ airline
and $6200 for transit at sydney (but need to stay in Sydney for 4 days, because of tight domestic flight)

miucham, did you quote the price through travel agent? They usually offer cheaper air-tickets!

i probably would take Cathay, but quite "meat-pain", as it was a direct flight and it include a return domestic flight from aucland to christchurch.

i did not ask for Qantas, but have asked for Singapore airline, it was $7xxx, requiring transit at Singapore; Thai airline was $55xx, but need to pay NZ$290 for each single domestic flight from NZ airline, terribly expensive Crying or Very sad

there was no direct flight, but we can transit in sydney, it took $6200, but it did not include the domestic flight, so it was equally expensive, and it require airport tax for both airport and the vacany was very tight that i need to stay in Sydney for 4 days before my departure to HK Confused

i have checked with my agent, i guess your price is the cheapest lu! For Qantas, the price is not available now, but he said that it costs around $9k for return ticket. (HK -> Australia -> Aucland -> Christchurch).

My bf and i have decided to go to South Island only. We hope to spend more time in each place and save transport cost as well. Have you plan your route?

if you took Qantas in Chinese new year, probably you can transit in Australia and go to christchurch, then you can save the domestic flight from north to south island

but for me, as the vacancy was very tight during Christmas, i need to go to Aucland first, then i cannot save the domestic flight which was very expensive, and i also want to take a look at north island Embarassed

for my route, i did not plan for the details yet, but probably would include the following,
1. north:
Waitomo cave for the glowworm and black water rafting
Rotoroua for the geothermal area and polynesia spa
short walk in aucland

2. south:
queenstown for the exciting activities......
milford sound
either fox/ franz josel glacier, whole day hiking tour
whale watching +/- swimming with dolphins at kaikora (? wrong spelling)
farm stay for 2-3 days (don't know where, any suggestion?)
short walk in christchurch

may add some other town depends on the route and convinence

do you have any advice? still very worrying about the tight accomodation in Chirstmas

I will try my best to save $$ in accommodation to leave$$ for joining different activities. So, i will stay in YHA most probably, but i also want to try B&B and Farmstay. Still searching information.......
